At Floss Dental Clinic we will thoroughly evaluate your child orthodontically and advise you about any needed orthodontic treatments and the right age for them based on your child’s needs.
Interceptive orthodontics is a specific type of orthodontics intended for children whose mouths are still developing, and it has become more popular in recent years. It can improve your child’s experience and outcome with orthodontic treatment.
With interceptive orthodontics, treatment starts earlier than it would via traditional orthodontic methods, sometimes as early as 6 years. By contrast, standard orthodontic treatment begins around age 10-12, when most of the permanent teeth have come in. Interceptive treatment doesn’t always involve braces; instead, it can employ many other techniques, ranging from removing primary teeth sequentially or special devices for behavioral modification. Afterward, traditional braces or other orthodontic appliances are often, but not always, needed.
