Routine Checkup and cleaning

Regular dental checkups and cleanings: essential for maintaining healthy teeth and gums.
During your professional cleaning our dentists will remove any plaque or tartar buildup from your teeth and gums to help prevent the progression of tooth decay and gum disease.

Equally importantly, we always perform a dental checkup during our cleanings. Our dentist will examine your teeth, gums, and mouth for early detection of oral cancer, periodontal disease or signs of dental problems, such as cavities, infections, cracks or fractures. Oftentimes, some of the existing restorations may show signs of wear or infiltration and need to be replaced.
By having your teeth and mouth regularly checked, you are reducing the potential risk of more serious dental problems and hence maintaining oral health.

Children aged 2 or older need to see a dentist. Starting at age 4 to 5 years old all children should have their teeth checked regularly at a dental office.

Establishing a routine recall regimen is an essential part of preventive dentistry. Both the American and Canadian Dental Associations suggests having routine cleanings at least every 6 months. In cases of more advanced periodontal issues, chronic gingivitis or various difficulties in maintaining oral health some patients may need cleanings with a more frequent schedule every 3 or 4 months. Others may occasionally need deeper gum treatments and monitoring by our specialist periodontist. Our dental team will work with you to determine the ideal frequency of your dental checkups and cleanings based on your individual needs and risk factors.
