At FLOSS Dental Clinic, we believe that prevention is the key to maintaining optimal oral health. We offer a range of preventive dentistry services to help our patients maintain healthy teeth and gums, starting from their very FIRST visit.

PATIENT CENTRIC TREATMENT
At your first appointment, your dental practitioner will learn about your oral and general health. This is often a great time to discuss if you are experiencing any anxiety about your dental visit. For many people, fear of coming to the dentist stems from a bad experience. We will take all this on board and talk you through step-by-step to try and make your dental experience at Floss Dental Clinic as easy and as comfortable as possible.

CLINICAL AND RADIOGRAPHIC EXAMINATION
From your very first visit, your dentist will thoroughly examine your teeth, gums, and mouth for any signs of decay, cavities, or gum disease both clinically and radiographically.
Yearly bitewing x-rays are the standard of care to help detect any potential dental problems early on. X-rays can help identify issues that may not be visible during a routine clinical dental exam, such as decay between teeth or under existing fillings. Depending on what is found from your clinical examination and your dental history, we may recommend taking a Panoramic x-ray as well during your first appointment.
Your dentist will also evaluate your occlusion and examine for any other signs or symptoms of oral disease or detrimental habits.

CUSTOMIZED TREATMENT PLANS
At FLOSS Dental Clinic we will complete a comprehensive oral examination both clinically and radiographically and will also speak to you about your general and oral health and chief complaints and concerns. Our team will work with you to develop a comprehensive treatment plan based on your unique needs and goals.

DENTAL CLEANING AND ORAL HYGEINE INSTRUCTIONS
It is usually possible to schedule a dental cleaning along with a check-up during your FIRST appointment. This allows us to perform a thorough clinical examination of the teeth and discuss the treatment plan while removing plaque and tartar from the teeth and gums.
During the first cleaning we will also provide you with ample oral hygiene instructions enabling you to maintain oral health and we will advise you on the proper recall schedule based on your personalized needs.
Most patients need recall cleanings every 6 months, others may need hygiene appointments every 3-4 months and yet others may need deeper periodontal cleanings with our specialist periodontist.
Occasionally, the first dental cleaning may have to be performed separately from the examination or a second cleaning may be needed.
